2016 Landscaping Trends

New year, new spring, and of course, new trends. Those of us who are passionate about landscaping (like us) think about landscaping all year round and come up with new ideas and new designs in the winter. These new ideas hit in the spring as the hottest trends that home owners will be talking about in 2016.

Comfortable

Think about your landscape less as a view, but as an experience. A trend for 2016 is to make the outdoor area a living space, an extension of your house without the walls. In beautiful weather, you want to be outside but with the comfort of your favorite recliner. In 2016, many homeowners will be trying to create the best of both worlds.

Durable

No we’re not talking about your patio furniture, we’re talking about the types of plants you choose. Plants need attention – pruning, water, soil, water, ample sunlight, and water. If any of those ingredients are out of sync, your plants and overall look of the landscape will suffer. Choosing plants that can survive in less-than-ideal conditions is a growing trend. Sometimes we can have a dry summer, and it’s nice to not have to worry as much about watering if you choose the right combination of plants.

Visible

This “trend” may not be special for 2016, but it is always a point of emphasis for any landscape lover. It is the classic term “curb appeal.” Sometimes, you just want to show off your lawn, and all the hard work and attention that you have given it over the years and thus far this season. Putting yourself in the shoes of the neighbors or a passerby can be a great way to focus while making landscaping decisions.

These are only some of the trends that may pop up throughout 2016. Keep your eyes peeled for trends!
